What Is an EICR?
An EICR is a formal inspection of a property's fixed wiring — the consumer unit, circuits, sockets and protective devices. We test the installation, record its condition, and code every observation (C1 danger, C2 potentially dangerous, C3 improvement recommended). A report is Satisfactory only when there are no C1 or C2 items.
Do You Need an EICR?
Landlords in England must have a valid EICR at least every five years, with a failed report remedied within 28 days. Commercial premises need regular reporting for insurance and safety duties. Homeowners: recommended every ten years, or before buying or selling.
